Another new year upon us. Resolutions. Promises. Expectations.
What do you want? I don’t mean possessions. What I mean is “What Do You Want?” What is it you want from your life, from the lives of the people around you? Do you want comfort, love, money, gourmet food, to live in a snow belt, to lay on the beach in Hawaii? Do you want to go back to school, or to change the way you treat people? Perhaps you want to quit the day job and open a boutique in a small town where you can breathe easily and give up all the chaos and drama that keeps you awake at night. Maybe you want a less boring life, to be near lights amidst crowds. Is there someone you want to forgive? Do you need to forgive yourself? Have you questioned what you have and whether you really need it? Have you questioned whether the people in your life are there by choice or default? Is it health you want? Do you want to fall in love?
Only we know in the center of our hearts what it is we truly want out of life. Only we can make it happen. Absolutely no one can stand in our way, unless we let them. And, sometimes, we stand in our own way, so get out of your way! Vow to make your life the best it can be in 2012 not by resolutions or promises, but by soul-searching, honestly and deeply, about what you value in life, what needs to be let go of and what it is you can not live without. Make necessary changes. Just do it. Stop worrying about what other people say or think about you. That is their life. This is yours. And if you want to fall in love, fall in love with yourself first. The rest is a piece of cake. Get on with it.
Happy New Year!
