Art Every Day Month – Day 16 – As mentioned in a previous post, it only takes one number to make a difference – one step forward, etc. Likewise, it only takes one word, one look, one suggestion or person to send your mind in the right direction and change your life forever.
In Tammy Vitale‘s recent post, Raven Dreams A World, her first line is the following: “If you make art long enough, you find themes.” My head split open when I read it. So what the hell is the theme in my work, both my writing and my visual art? I’ve been doing both for as long as I have memory. My answer, after reading and recollecting: Transformation. Healing. I have a small tattoo which is the Kanji for Transform. Transform and Healing are the same word for me. One transforms, becoming whole and pure in essence. I spent much of late last night thinking about all of this. How could I interpret this visually since I’m looking for daily postings for the month of November. What will I come up with?
I decided to do my version of automatic writing to find what wants to be seen after all that ruminating (this always produces small images that wake up my sleeping visual brain). My version is simply writing with a fine tip pen across a page as if I’m going to be profound but I don’t use an alphabet. I sort of scribble, not with any intent of my own, fairly slowly. Intent from elsewhere is the point. Perhaps even from the guides I never see but have come to believe in. I draw a second line across the first, making sure only that I do not duplicate them. Once I have the lines down on paper, I look for images in between the lines, the forms, the innuendos, the breakthroughs, altering line sizes on a software program and fine tuning it all until I have something that makes sense to me.
The digital art below is the result of this automatic writing. Healers. Women healers being born. I know in my soul these are female. I know it as well as I know all things. Golden souls. The future. I am inspired by Tammy Vitale‘s post, and now my digital art is inspiration for a future painting….one day….one day.

“What in your life is calling you, When all the noise is silenced, The meetings adjourned…
The lists laid aside, And the Wild Iris blooms
By itself In the dark forest…What still pulls on your soul?.”
